I SET UP IN BUSINESS as a farrier in Gloucestershire in 1978, having come to the craft from an engineering background. I had always sought ways of improving working practices and soon realised there was desperate need for an economical, safe and efficient portable gas forge for the modern day farrier

After exhaustive research, development, and working trials the first SWAN PORTAFORGE was produced in 1985. Initially marketed in the UK, sales are now worldwide.

Since those early days we've increased our range of models to suit specific applications not only in the field of farriery, but also in blacksmithing and light engineering. The SWAN PORTAFORGE is also used in schools and colleges and indeed any situation requiring safe, rapid heating of metal components.

We also manufacture a selection of high quality tools and equipment which I have designed to be used in conjunction with the SWAN PORTAFORGE.

Now operating from larger premises in Toddington, we are distributors for Strömsholm Ltd, one of the UK's leading farrier suppliers. Also, for blacksmiths, we are importing the Hofi Cross Pein Forging Hammer from Israel.
